The South County EDC Presents
We are excited to announce the return of our popular Candidates Forum web series, where businesses and community leaders will have a unique opportunity to hear from and interact with those seeking to represent our communities through elected office.
When: September to October 2024
More Information
The South County Economic Development Council (SCEDC) recently had the
privilege of representing the voice of our region's business community
in two important meetings with United States Trade Representative,
Ambassador Katherine Tai. These discussions were made possible thanks
to our valued partners, the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce,
and the Asian Business Association, who played a key role in coordinating
these sit-down
sessions with Ambassador Tai.
During these meetings, SCEDC President and CEO Jim O'Callaghan and
Chair of the Board Debbie Espe engaged with the Ambassador on critical
trade matters affecting both our region and the global economy. The
conversations provided a platform to highlight key issues facing our
region, including the impacts of infrastructure - such as border crossings,
water and electrification, and other cross-border transportation opportunities.
We extend our gratitude to our community partners and all those who
ensure that the voices of local businesses and representatives are
heard at the highest levels of decision-making, both locally and globally.
The Otay Water District announced at its Aug. 7 board meeting that it
will fill its division one board vacancy through an appointment process.
The application deadline for candidates interested in filling the seat
is Monday, August 26, 2024 by 5 p.m.
